manufactured art looks at art from the perspective of production and reproduction. It asks questions about what would happen if some or many artists produced art like design, accessible, plentiful, less expensive but still exceptional quality? could such a world exist? what would some of the art look like and what other ramifications would it have?into functional design pieces. it keeps the rarity and craftsmanship of art.manufactured art is a different take on design art, discarding some of the preciousness and rarity of art in favor of design elements like scalablity (can the work be manufactured at sizeable scale, like design and luxury?) and openness. it can still be expensive, labour intensive with high production values like an eames chair or a luxury handbag. like design, it is generally open edition.the reason for open edition is that it makes it more accessible which is one of the great, civilizing features of design.
